One of the joys of what we do as a drainage company is getting to work outside during the summer. Obviously there is the other side of the coin which is having to work outside in the winter but lets not dwell on that.
So we have been digging up a drain to access a blockage far down the drain pipe at a home in Scotstoun in the West End of Glasgow. While so many in Glasgow have been out getting a tan in the Scottish Summer sun, it hasn’t stopped this customers drain system from blocking. So while they were outside catching the sun, their dish washer was the straw that broke the camels blocked drain back and began to flood the kitchen.
The main drainage pipe for the home that feeds into the streets drainage system have become blocked. The dishwasher as it drained water was forcing the water up into the main kitchen sink (because of the way the plumber (not us) had installed the drainage pipes in the kitchen)). It quickly overflowed out of the sink and onto the worktop and spilled onto the floor.
While it meant the customer had an immediate mop job on their hands, they needed to find a drainage company in Glasgow. One that has the experience and the quality service that they were looking for. What was the problem? It was roots from a tree/shrub in the garden that had managed to crack the drain pipe and begin to grow inside the pipe. It had finally grown enough roots to form a fairly tough blockage and the only way to access it was by digging down to the pipe in the garden to remove the roots and replace the cracked pipe.
And that is exactly what we did. All in the glorious summer sunshine.
