For those that follow our news stories on a regular basis, you will have occassionally heard us talk about CCTV drain surveys. But what are they?
CCTV may sound like a very technical service and when you think about it – what would a cctv camera pick up down a dark blocked drain?
We use CCTV drain cameras because they perform a vital service to us as drainage experts.
They allow us to monitor and inspect a drain to see if it is well maintained. So for example, if you were moving house, a CCTV drain survey would allow us to see if a properties drainage system was working properly. We can spot if a drain has a crack or a hole in or or whether there is already a partial blockage in the drain.
CCTV drain surveys are also incredibly handy when a customer has been suffering from persistent and regular blockages. Often when our customers try to unblock a drain themselves, they use off the shelf chemical agents and maybe even a plunger. They often think that they have unblocked the drain but then a week or so later – it is back. We can use CCTV drain survey to locate exactly where a problem with your blocked drain may be. It is not always loose hair, grease and other gunk that block a drain. If you live in an older property in Glasgow, it may be that a tree root has broken through a pipe and is partially blocking the drain.
While a lot of our customers only call us when they are suffering from a blocked drain, we do have many customers who subscribe to a maintenance plan with JSL Drainage. With this, we can perform basic maintenance checks and work on drainage in a home. And part of that can involve using CCTV drain survey to identify and small cracks or holes that may have appeared over the winter.
CCTV Drain Surveys are an invaluable part of what we do and so often, we can pick up little issue that allow us to fix them quickly and cheaply before they become big issues with blocked drains and sewage waste flooding into your home.
