An Easter Lunch Blocked Drain

We have been a bit busy recently (what with all the blocked drains in Glasgow that we need to fix) so this latest story is a bit behind schedule.  During the Easter Weekend, so many families across Glasgow come together for a Sunday Roast.  Traditionally on the Easter Weekend, it is Roast Lamb.  And this year, one of our customers decided that they wanted to join the huge number of fellow Glasgow residents in producing a Sunday Roast of their own.  But it seems that nobody ever told them NOT to pour hot cooking fat down a sink.  And nobody ever told them to not then pour cold water down the tap either. So when the Roast Lamb was ready, they had poured the hot fat liquid down the sink and then immediately run some cold water over the baking tray to wash away some more excess fat.  That cold water combined with the hot fat to quickly cool it and solidify it – creating a blockage in their kitchen drainage system.

So come the Monday morning, we received a call from this customer in the West End of Glasgow because when they had finally decided to do the dishes from the Sunday Roast the previous day, the water would not drain away.  That’s right – they had a blocked drain.  The problem was a wee bit more complicated however because the blockage was beyond the U bend of the drain.  So when they removed this to clear the blockage, they could still not access the blocked drain pipe.  And that is where we come in.

JSL Drainage has some pretty impressive drainage equipment and one of our favourite tools is the jet blaster.  It simply blasts water down the pipe at pressure to physically remove the blockage.  It also helps to clear away any other obstacles.

So when we turned up, we quickly assessed the situation and then go to work.  For a professional drainage company like ourselves, it was a relatively easy job but you would be amazed at how often this kind of blocked drain can happen.

So if you have poured something down the kitchen sink that you shouldn’t have and now have a blocked drain to deal with – call in the professionals to clear your drains and get the water flowing again.
