Heavy rain equals more blocked drains

There has been a lot of rain recently.

You don’t need a weather man to tell you that.  Looking out the window, talking to friends and watching the news on TV is all you need to do to know that the rain this late Autumn has been intense.  And from landslides to flooding, it has caused all sorts of havoc on peoples lives.

But one area of heavy rain that may not become apparent immediately is drainage problems.  And that is where you need to be vigilant.  Because all the heavy rain has picked up dirt, leaves, stones, debris and all sorts of other things and swept it down the drain.  But that doesn’t mean that is is gone and long to be forgotten.  We get a lot of calls in the weeks after flooding because toilets start to drain poorly.  Miniature blockages cause the toilet drainage system to struggle to flush away waste and all it takes is the right circumstances and you have a blocked toilet.  This is now the kind of thing that a plunger can fix. Plungers only really work for blockages very near to the toilet pipe itself.  Anything further away will have no effect from the plunger. You need something more powerful.
