This is a story of chance.
We were called out to a property in Glasgow North because they had a blocked drain (no surprise there). After we had completed the drain unblocking service, a conversation with the home owner began revolving around their satisfaction with our service and how they wished that more trades services would offer a service even half as good. A perfect example, they said, was a recent issue they had with a roofer. They had water leaking into their homes kitchen so naturally called a roofer. The roofer, when they did eventually turn up assured them that it was a problem with their chimney and after accepting the quote, the chimney was repointed. But come the next heavy rainfall in Glasgow, the water kept leaking into the kitchen and the roofer accepted no responsibility and simply stopped answering the phone to the customer.
Because of the location of the leak and a lead gutter, we asked if we could have a wee look (because we are that kind of company). A quick inspection found that a gutter had been blocked for quite some time with moss and leaves and had effectively created a dam. Everytime it rained, the dam filled up the gutter with water and when it overflowed, it led directly to the kitchen.
We fixed the blocked gutter and came back a few days later to complete a full gutter cleaning program for the customer. They called a month later to say that even with lots more rain, the problem had gone away and their kitchen wa bone dry again.
