Fixing a Blocked Drain in Blantyre for a bookkeeping company.

Waste Water had started to flood into the car park area of the building signalling that there was a blocked drain in the main external drainage pipe of the building.  So all the toilet and sink water in the building was collecting into this main drain pipe and had nowhere else to go.

Because it was so far down the drain pipe, a plunger would not provide enough pressure to push whatever the obstacle was away.

We used our high pressure jetter to blast the blockage away and then used our CCTV camera to inspect the drain pipe and check that the blockage had indeed been removed.

This identified the original cause of the problem.  A concrete deposit.

The building next to 360 Ledger Services had recently had some work done to the front of their office during the drier summer months. We suspect that a concrete mix from the construction work had been washed down the drain gutter and formed into a cement paste. This had managed to harden before any more water was flushed down the drain pipe.

It is a common issue with property that has had construction work carried out.  Building debris is very often brushed down the nearest drain gutter.

This concrete deposit had formed an ideal dam that had over the next month or so collected whatever other debris that was being pushed down, consistently growing in size until the drain pipe had finally became blocked.

Because it was only a small amount of concrete to begin with, its grip on the inside of the pipe was not strong enough to withstand our drain cleaning service and we were able to blast it away.

So we had found the blockage, cleared the blockage and made sure that it wouldn’t happen again.  All in less than an hour.
