A slow draining sink may not seem like a disaster but it is the first sign of potentially bigger problems with your homes drainage system.
If you have begun to notice that your kitchen sink is draining away water a little more slowly than normal then we strongly advise you not to ignore it. A slow draining sink can be the first visual clue that your drainage system is beginning to block up. And dealing with a slowly draining sink BEFORE it becomes a fully blocked drain is a lot easier than dealing with a blocked drain when it is well and truly clogged up.
If you like saving money then dealing with a slow draining sink on your own is a lot cheaper than calling in a Glasgow Drainage Company.
That may seem strange for us to advise you to fix your own drainage problems but we exist not to fix any and all blocked drains, but to provide a drainage service for customers who simply do not have any other alternative as they have tried and failed themselves.
When you consider how much you pour down your kitchen sink each and every day, it is more amazing that your drains don’t just block all the time. From the little bits of cereal that you rinse away to the greasy fat that gets mixed in with the evenings dish washing. All it takes is a few rogue hair strands, a broken nail or a few pieces of sweetcorn to begin the cycle of a blocked drain.
Now there are plenty of over the counter/off the shelf drain cleaner solutions (though they are not very good for the environment it should be noted). So if you have a blocked drain then this may be all you need to deal with it. OR…you could try using a plunger to help push the small blockage that is causing the slowly draining sink along.
However, if you have been suffering from a slow draining sink and if you have tried on multiple occasions to fix it and yet it keeps coming back….then now is the time to call in the Glasgow Drainage Professionals.

We were called out by a new customer who had found us on the internet. They were fed up of pouring bottle after bottle of drainage un-blocker down their bathtub drain hole with limited results. They wanted a professional to fix it once and for all.
We turned up at their door at the agreed upon time before conducing an initial inspection survey of the drainage hole.
We then used a selection of our commercial grade drainage unblocking tools to clear the drainage pipes safely and efficiently.
The results were immediate and the customer marvelled at how he had never seen the bath drain so quickly.
We didn’t hear from the customer again regarding the issue but then little over a year later, he called us to handle a blocked toilet issue where a plunger simply wouldn’t get the job done. He had been so impressed with our previous work and professional attitude that he had saved our number on his phone there and then. So when he did have a new drainage emergency – we were just a phone call away.
Top Tips to fix a slow draining sink
So…if you have noticed that your sink is draining away the water a little bit more slowly than normal then the easiest thing to do is to pour one of the current range of drain cleaning products that you can purchase in a supermarket. Always read the label as the chemicals involved can be quite nasty.
Alternatively, you can try pouring some hot boiling water down the drain pipe. The hot water can help dislodge the blockage. Next time you boil the kettle for a cup of tea, simply pour the left over water that you haven’t used down the sink.
You should notice a near instant improvement in your drainage of water. HOWEVER….if the problem comes back after a relatively short period of time then simply pouring chemicals down the pipe or pouring hot water down may not be what is required – trust us, we are professionals.
If you have previously used a drain unblocking chemical agent yet the water is still draining slowly (or has begun to drain slowly again after a relatively short period of time) then you most likely have a blockage in your drainage system that ‘over the counter’ drainage cleaning products simply can’t handle. And that is when you need to call in the professionals.
